Scanfly PRO: mobile mapping LiDAR with dual GNSS for tunnels and urban areas

Tunnels, narrow streets and dense urban areas: these are the challenging GNSS environments for which 3DT designed Scanfly PRO, its highest-performance multi-platform LiDAR. Scanfly PRO has a dual GNSS receiver, captures up to 1,920,000 points per second with a 300 m range and offers 2 cm precision and accuracy, in just 1.4 kg.

On this page we look at what changes compared to Scanfly EVO, how it works in flight, on foot and on a vehicle and which software you need to get to the point cloud. The data is as declared by 3DT: for configuration, accessories and prices, 3D Target is at your disposal.

Dual GNSS for tunnels and dense urban areas

Operator carrying Scanfly PRO as a backpack among the ruins of an archaeological site in the city center

Scanfly PRO has a dual GNSS receiver and is designed to maintain uncompromising accuracy even in challenging GNSS environments, such as tunnels and dense urban areas. This is the main difference compared to Scanfly EVO, which has a single 336-channel receiver.

  • Dual receiver: 2 × 336 channels, with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS, in PPK mode.

  • Survey grade inertial navigation: 200 Hz IMU, with a 1 kHz internal rate.

  • Where it is needed: surveys in tunnels, in narrow streets and in dense urban areas.

Performance: 1,920,000 points per second and 300 m range

Drone with Scanfly PRO mounted underneath: up to 1,920,000 points per second and 300 m range

Scanfly PRO captures up to 1,920,000 points per second, with a maximum range of 300 m and 2 cm precision and accuracy. In flight, the recommended height ranges from 15 to 210 m above ground.

  • LiDAR head: 32-channel multichannel, rotating at 5 to 20 Hz, with a 905 nm laser.

  • Distance measurement: 10 mm accuracy and 5 mm precision.

  • Survey precision: 2 cm precision and 2 cm accuracy, as RMS 1σ at 50 m in PPK with open-sky GNSS.

  • Airborne: it mounts on drones with a DJI Skyport mount via the 3DT-SF-v3-SKY adapter.

Scanfly PRO vs Scanfly EVO

Mounting kits, supported cameras, storage on the 256 GB USB flash drive, power, IP65 protection in the 3DT kit and operating temperature remain the same. We introduced Scanfly EVO in the article Scanfly EVO: the mobile mapping LiDAR for drone, backpack and vehicle.

Airborne, on foot and on vehicle

Like Scanfly EVO, Scanfly PRO works on the drone, on your back with the backpack or on board a vehicle, changing only the mounting kit. The design is cable-free and the accessories attach without tools.

  • 3DT-SF-v3-SKY kit: for drones with a DJI Skyport mount.

  • 3DT-SF-v3-LMK kit: for the vehicle and for the backpack. When installed in a 3DT mounting kit the system has IP65 protection and CE marking.

  • Supported RGB cameras: 24 MP UAV camera and 360° global shutter panoramic camera, 48 MP (4 x 12 MP cameras, 32 MP panoramic images), sold separately.

  • Control and software: touch button, Scanfly WebApp and SmartProcessing Lidar included; SmartProcessing Lidar generates point clouds in a few clicks and supports SLAM, GCP and Strip Alignment. SmartSurvey for Windows is sold separately.

You will find all the data on the Scanfly PRO product page and the other instruments in the laser scanner catalog and in the mobile mapping section.

Frequently asked questions

What is Scanfly PRO?

It is the highest-performance 3DT multi-platform mobile mapping LiDAR system: dual GNSS receiver, up to 1,920,000 points/s, 300 m range and 2 cm precision, in 1.4 kg. It is used airborne, on foot with the backpack and on vehicle.

Does Scanfly PRO work in tunnels and dense urban areas?

3DT presents it as suitable for challenging GNSS environments, such as tunnels and dense urban areas, thanks to the dual GNSS receiver. To evaluate a specific survey, talk to our technicians.

How does it differ from Scanfly EVO?

Scanfly PRO has dual GNSS (2 × 336 channels versus 336), up to 1,920,000 points/s versus 1,280,000, 300 m range versus 130 m, 2 cm precision and accuracy versus 3 cm, and weighs 1.4 kg versus 1.6 kg.

How accurate is Scanfly PRO?

2 cm precision and accuracy, measured as RMS 1σ at a distance of 50 m, in PPK with open-sky GNSS. The LiDAR head measures distance with an accuracy of 10 mm and a precision of 5 mm.

Are mounting kits, cameras and software included?

Scanfly WebApp and SmartProcessing Lidar are included. The 3DT-SF-v3-SKY and 3DT-SF-v3-LMK kits, the RGB cameras and SmartSurvey for Windows are sold separately.

How much does it cost and how do I order it?

We work on a quotation basis. Write to info@3dtarget.it or call +39 030 5357677, or use the contact page.

Do you need to survey where GNSS struggles?

Tell us what you need to survey, where and with which platform: we will tell you whether Scanfly PRO is the right solution or whether Scanfly EVO is enough.
