DJI Matrice 5T: enterprise drone with LiDAR, radar and 1K thermal camera

If you are looking for a compact enterprise drone that sees well at night, in fog or where there is no GNSS signal, DJI Matrice 5T is the new release to know. Announced by DJI on 5 November 2026, it integrates for the first time in a compact enterprise drone LiDAR, mmWave radar and visual sensing, together with a 1K thermal camera and advanced night vision, with IP55 protection.

This page explains the main features in a simple way. The data are those declared by DJI, obtained with a production model in a controlled environment; to understand whether they suit your case, 3D Target is at your disposal.

1K thermal camera and night vision

DJI Matrice 5T enterprise drone with 1K thermal camera and night vision

The thermal camera of DJI Matrice 5T has a native resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels, four times the pixels of standard 640 × 512 sensors. With the UHR infrared imaging mode the resolution rises to 2560 × 2048.

  • Wide camera: 1/0.98-inch sensor with f/1.8 aperture, ISO up to 1,600,000 and AI enhancement for low-light scenes; color images down to 0.01 lux.

  • Medium telephoto: 50 MP sensor and 3x optical zoom, to inspect power lines and bridges from 10 meters.

  • Telephoto: black-and-white night vision, 11x optical and 176x hybrid zoom, to read license plates up to 400 meters away.

Omnidirectional sensing: LiDAR, radar and vision

DJI Matrice 5T with LiDAR, mmWave radar and vision sensors for obstacle sensing

DJI Matrice 5T combines three sensing technologies to fly safely even with poor visibility.

  • LiDAR: detects thin obstacles, such as power lines, up to 32 meters away, even at night.

  • mmWave radar: keeps working in fog, rain or dust.

  • Color fisheye sensors: visual positioning down to 0.5 lux; Vision Assist now shows color images.

  • Weak GNSS signal: in canyons or among skyscrapers the drone fuses visual and radar data to build a real-time map of the environment.

Open Edge AI and FlightHub 2

Artificial intelligence works on board, without waiting for the drone to return. The built-in models recognize more than 20 types of targets, including vehicles and vessels, analyzing the thermal and visible streams together. Onboard processing is open and also supports third-party models.

  • Search by text and image: with DJI FlightHub 2 you can search for a target from DJI Pilot 2 by describing it with text or an image.

  • Guided patrol: you draw an area on the map and the route is generated, with custom actions such as hover, photo, video or audio messages.

O4 Enterprise transmission and relay modes

DJI Matrice 5T with O4 Enterprise transmission and relay modes

O4 Enterprise Enhanced transmission reaches 40 km (20 km with CE standard), compared with 25 km of the previous generation. Adaptive multi-band switching helps against urban interference.

  • Two built-in DJI Cellular Dongle 2: the drone automatically switches to the best network link.

  • Smart Relay: relay topologies for a single drone or several drones, to extend the distance.

High-precision surveying with DJI Terra

With DJI Matrice 5T you can survey with centimeter-level accuracy without ground control points (GCPs). DJI Terra merges thermal images into 2D thermal maps, reads temperatures and flags anomalies, for example on solar plants and power grids.

  • On the remote controller: real-time image reception and, according to DJI, 200 photos processed in 8 minutes for local point clouds or 2.5D models.

  • Planning: from a single flight the remote controller creates a rough 3D model to plan routes that follow the surface of the subject.

Field features and data security

  • Power line inspection: the top LiDAR detects and locks onto conductors and ground wires, to fly sideways along the line and spot broken strands or suspended objects.

  • Moving vessels: takeoff and landing on board by recognizing the marker on the deck.

  • DJI Pilot plug-ins: developers can add features to DJI Pilot 2, for example floating windows.

  • Data: explicit consent to share photos and videos with DJI; DJI FlightHub 2 is certified ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 by BSI and personal registration data are protected with AES-256 encryption.

  • DJI support: DJI Care Enterprise Plus (one battery replacement per year and Flyaway coverage) and an official one-year extended warranty.

Frequently asked questions

What is DJI Matrice 5T?

It is DJI's new compact enterprise drone, with LiDAR, mmWave radar, visual sensing, 1K thermal camera and advanced night vision, IP55 protection and up to 59 minutes of declared flight time.

How long does DJI Matrice 5T fly?

DJI declares up to 59 minutes of flight time, in a temperature range from -20 °C to 50 °C.

What is the thermal camera resolution?

1280 × 1024 native pixels, which become 2560 × 2048 with the UHR infrared imaging mode.

Does it work without a GNSS signal?

With a weak GNSS signal, for example in canyons or among skyscrapers, the drone fuses visual and radar data to build a real-time environment map.

How far does the transmission reach?

The O4 Enterprise Enhanced system declares up to 40 km (20 km with CE standard), against 25 km of the previous generation. Relay modes allow extending the distance.
