Advanced HDR capability of iSTAR in difficult lighting conditions

The iSTAR 360 panoramic camera delivers fast and automatic high dynamic range (HDR) images in challenging lighting conditions, whether in environments with high contrasts of darkness and shadow or low levels of ambient light.
The NCTech iSTAR camera can be set to automatically capture a single exposure (HDR OFF), five (HDR ON) or up to nine exposures (HDR PRO) with an equivalent range of up to 27 f-stops.
The entire 360 scene is automatically analyzed to determine the most suitable exposure values (EV) and bracketing to cover the dynamic range of the scene.

iSTAR and Pix4D, point clouds from HDR images NCTech iSTAR 360

The iSTAR 360° camera provides fast, automatic 360-degree images in High Dynamic Range (HDR) and can be used as a stand-alone device to create point clouds, especially indoors, for complex architecture or environments with difficult lighting conditions.

iSTAR can be used to provide HDR images with more exposure steps and reduced processing and acquisition times compared to standard cameras. The purpose of this report is to briefly test the overall Pix4D workflow using iSTAR images to create 3D point clouds and/or digital surface models (DSMs).
The results of the project demonstrated that iSTAR can efficiently acquire HDR images for point cloud creation, even in complex indoor environments.

iSTAR and SphereVision

The iSTAR 360-degree HDR camera, used in combination with the NCTech measurement module, offers a solution for fast and intuitive measurement based on photogrammetric techniques using panoramas directly within an immersive workspace. In addition, the integration of the NCTech measurement module within Arithmetica SphereVision allows the user to combine various NCTech 360° media (fixed panoramas, measurement pairs, and time-lapse videos) with maps, plans, and layouts for a complete overview, including measurements.
In addition, SphereVision Viewer (free) allows users to share plans with other stakeholders by taking advantage of SphereVision's user-friendly interface.
